Biography

My BSN is from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois in 1968. For the first four years, I worked in medical surgical nursing and pediatrics. After a move back to Indianapolis, my home town, I began working in psychiatric mental health nursing at Community Hospital. I decided I wanted to learn more so I went back to school and earned my MSN in Community Mental Health Nursing in 1976 from Indiana University. From there I went to the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) and taught psychiatric mental health nursing in the ASN and BSN programs. Later I taught some courses in the Masters in Nursing Education Program.

During this time at UIndy, I continued to work part time at Community Hospital mostly on the psychiatric unit, maintained a full time role at UIndy and went to school for my doctorate which I earned in 1997 in Higher Education Administration from IU. After 32 years of teaching in the School of Nursing at the University of Indianapolis, I retired in 2009. Then I went to Ball State where I taught psychiatric mental health nursing for 2 years. With a little hiatus off, I joined the Marian Accelerated Program in 2012 teaching mental health nursing. I truly enjoy teaching on-line and working with the students. Now it has been 41 years that I have been in this field of mental health nursing.

In my spare time, I love to travel, do nature photography and spend time with my family and friends. I have big family of 4 living siblings, 20 nieces and nephews, 45 great nieces and nephews and some great greats.

I wish you all the best in your course work and will help you toward your career goals in any way I can.
