Amber Essman, DNP, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC

Biography

Dr. Amber Essman joined Marian University in Spring 2019. Dr. Essman graduated with her doctorate degree in advanced practice leadership from Chamberlain University in 2015. She has a post-master’s in family nursing practice from The Ohio State University. She attended Gonzaga University for her Master of Science in Nursing Education and holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Washington State University. Dr. Essman has worked as a registered nurse since 1999 and has experience in labor and delivery, critical care, flight nursing, and medical-surgical nursing care. Dr. Essman taught undergraduate nursing for Chamberlain College of Nursing from 2010-2016. She currently works as a family nurse practitioner at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, delivering primary care to children ages 0-21.

Dr. Essman has contributed and reviewed many manuscripts for undergraduate nursing publishers. Research interests are bariatric sensitivity, breastfeeding, pediatric asthma control, barriers to evidence-based practice adherence, and injury prevention with anticipatory guidance.
