A native of eastern Indiana, Rachel began her teaching career in the high school and collegiate marching arts, serving as a percussion instructor for ten years. While studying the history of western music, Rachel expanded her teaching expertise as a graduate assistant under Professor Emeritus Dr. James Briscoe at the Jordan College of Arts at Butler University. Her passion for world music took Rachel across the world to New Zealand, where she prepared research for her master thesis over Māori welcoming music and accomplished her dream to visit Hobbiton. Another stop on her “world tour” is the Take Me There: China gallery at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, where she serves as the Interpretation Humanities Coordinator. As an educator of all ages within performing, academic, and museum realms, Rachel facilitates learning with the intention of building connections and understanding in her students.
