Ty is from Huntingburg, Indiana, and attended Southridge High School. Upon graduating high school, Ty relocated to Muncie, Indiana, to attend Ball State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Graphics.

While at Ball State, Ty was a member of Greek Life and an active ambassador for the university. He worked as a student orientation leader for two summers, and assisted the Office of Admissions as a tour guide and welcome center assistant. During his senior year, he acquired an internship with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This experience ultimately affirmed Ty’s passion for helping students and encouraged him to pursue a career in higher education and student affairs.

After relocating to the Indianapolis-area, Ty returned to his alma mater in 2017 for his graduate studies. He acquired an assistantship in the Office of Financial Aid, where he counseled students and their families through the financial aid process. He also was a graduate assistant for the Office of Orientation, where he supervised 28 orientation leaders and welcomed nearly 5,000 guests over eight programs throughout the summer. Ty obtained his Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAAHE) in 2018.

As an admission counselor, Ty serves as a liaison for students who reside in Southwest Indiana and Kentucky who wish to continue their education at Marian University.

Outside of work, Ty enjoys playing guitar and video games, cooking, traveling, and sharing time with his wife, Haylie, and their calico cat, Emmy. Ty is also an avid James Bond (007) fan.

“I want students to feel like a person as opposed to a number throughout their college search. I was very fortunate throughout my college experience, and want to provide the same level of attention and service to those I meet. I encourage students not to be afraid to break convention – this is an opportunity for you to explore and find the best fit for you.”
