Dean's Welcome

What makes the Byrum School of Business fundamentally different? An experiential curriculum that emphasizes teaching students about business by enabling them to actually DO business.

We’ve replaced the old “go to class, read a textbook, and take an exam” model of teaching and learning with a more active, contemporary academic approach that’s focused on career readiness and preparation. And it’s met with great success.

Because ALL business students are required to interact and engage with local business leaders to solve real business challenges, they develop essential skills and qualities that top local, regional, national, and international employers tell us they want and expect in new college graduates.

Business majors at Marian University can earn five bachelor’s degrees that can be paired with six business concentrations—or majors and minors outside of business—according to their individual career goals and aspirations.

In addition to acquiring deep knowledge built on proven business methods and strategies, you will get broad exposure to the latest business tools, trends, and technologies. Upon graduation, you will:

  • Be an excellent communicator.
  • Understand the importance of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Have strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Possess a solid work ethic and values.
  • Have a resume that’s built on high-impact learning experiences, including at least one business internship.
  • Be prepared to serve as a leader in your chosen field of business and in your community.

Our partners regularly comment on the high level of professionalism, confidence, and experience that Byrum School students bring to the table during job interviews and internships.

As a result, our graduates enjoy job placement rates that are consistently near 100 percent for professional employment within six months or less of graduation.

If you want a traditional business school where you’ll learn about business by reading a textbook and taking multiple-choice tests, we may not be the best fit for you.

But if you want a student experience at a school where real business happens, talk to us. We want to learn more about you.
